Vacancy Ori Nursing and care taking of disabled people Ser General project information Project name: Ori organisation for disabled people Project type (practical/research/policy):Practical (care, support & therapy for people with disabilities) Intended for interns from following study fields: Nursing, care takers Total project duration: Ongoing since 1982 Preferred starting period: As soon as possible Number of students required: 1 Nurse Project description Background of the project: Ori Organisation was founded in 1982, specifically for the care, support and therapy of people living with disabilities on the West Coast of South Africa Services consist of Day Care facilities for children & adults, work centre for adults and residential facilities for 60 adults and 15 older people. Problem statement: Ori Organisation is registered as a Non-profit Organisation and depends on subsidies from government and donors funding for survival. Only one nurse with secondary training employed – more services required. Role of the intern: Assist with advanced services and methods in nursing of disabled people Specific activities: Daily check-ups, referrals to resources, system development, training Measurable end product (report/advice/development/product): Advanced systems and services Facilities for intern Supervision on appropriate project field: Nursing sister on duty. Experienced staff when it comes to working with foreign interns and reducing cultural barriers.
