Vacancy Swaziland Construction project General project information Project name: Swaziland Construction project Project type (practical/research/policy): practical Intended for interns from following study fields: building, construction, engineering Total project duration: 1-12 months Preferred starting period: a.s.a.p. The project is closed in December, so that could be holiday period. Number of students required: 1 Project description Background of the project: Our builder is an experienced Swazi builder and we build according to Swaziland regulations. Our projects are generally small community projects and don’t necessarily include survey or design experience, or equipment. We mix cement by hand and make our own bricks wherever possible. We would expect our intern to work more independently and without constant supervision. Role of the intern and specific activities: Our building project would involve different activities depending on the needs of the local community at the time. Some of the projects they may be involved in include: Meeting with community members to discuss needs and projects Construction of small structures such as a classroom, kitchen, store room, toilets or playgrounds on projects for orphan and vulnerable children Maintenance of the above structures Clearing land, mix cement and dig foundations for building Making and laying of bricks Painting and roofing of the above structures Assisting with developing, planting and tending gardens to supply orphan and vulnerable children with vegetables Facilities for intern Supervision on appropriate project field: yes, but not continuously Workspace for intern: in the community and at the lodge Included in the package price: 1. Accommodation at the Lodge with other interns/volunteers 2. food (3 meals a day) 3. airport pick-up and drop-off 4. thorough orientation, project support, and emergency 24/7 support by the partner organisation and Let’s Go Africa Package price: €761,60 per month They do not include flights, personal expenses and visa costs. * There is also options to include tours to Kruger, Mozambique, South Africa and within Swaziland at additional cost.
