Zanzibar Educational project General project information Project name: nursery, primary and secondary schools teaching Project type (practical/research/policy): practical and research. Intended for interns from following study fields: language studies i.e. English, French, science studies i.e. math, geography, biology, chemistry, physics, general studies and development studies. Total project duration: from 2 weeks to six months and longer is also possible, Preferred starting period: our schools receiving volunteers and interns all year round. Number of students required: from one to 20 as we have many schools. Project description Background of the project: Zanzibar is the one of the third world countries that has less advancement in foreign languages and science subjects. Therefore volunteers and interns are required in the schools to build the foundation for the future local science experts. They will help the local community in health care, agriculture, electricity, oil, etc. as well as language experts, who will improve tourism sector which is backbone of the country’s economy. Problem statement: the poor conditions of Zanzibar students in science and foreign language studies. Goal: to build the foundation for the future local languages and science experts. Role of the intern: teaching in theory, practice and exercise. Specific activities: Measurable end product (report/advice/development/product): advice and report. Facilities for intern Supervision on appropriate project field: available. Degree of supervisor: bachelor degree Workspace for intern: available. Introduction and guidance during project: two days of orientation in guest house, area and school. Accommodation options: Guesthouse in Stone Town. Intern requirements Intern characteristics/qualities: willing to help, good conduct and no any teaching experience needed.
